The Bethel Warrior girls and boys high school varsity wrestlers competed at the Lancer Smith Memorial Wrestling Invitational last weekend in Wasilla, Alaska on November 17-19, 2023. The Bethel boys won second place as a team in the small schools division.
130 lb. Paul Dyment placed fourth overall. His teammate Ellis Johnson won third place in the 160 lb. bracket. Alvino Vasquez also participated in the 119 lb. division. Teammate Aaron Mute also wrestled in the 130 lb. bracket.
On the girls’ side, Bethel’s Isabel Lieb took first place for the gold in the 132 lb. bracket. Her teammate Jordan Klejka placed 6th overall in the 120 lb. division. Riley Boney, also of Bethel, won 4th in the 138 lb. bracket.
Also wrestling for the Bethel Lady Warriors was Michelle Kilanak (100 lb.), Justine Erickson-Bradney (165 lb.), and Mary Jane Clyde (185 lbs.)
