Alaska State Troopers received a report on November 10, 2023, at 3:14am, from a resident of Grayling about a house fire, and that two people may have been inside. The house was a total loss, but one of the occupants was located safely at a family member’s home. Troopers and a Deputy Fire Marshal were unable to travel to Aniak on November 10, due to weather.
On Saturday, November 11, 2023, Aniak-based Troopers and a Fairbanks-based Deputy Fire Marshal responded to Grayling to conduct an origin and cause investigation. The remains of an adult male were found inside the residence and are being transported to the State Medical Examiner’s Office for autopsy and positive identification. The investigation is on-going.
