JOB DESCRIPTION

Position: Tribal Administrator

Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Tribal Administrator shall include; but not limited to:

1. Work under the direction and supervision of the Akiachak IRA Council;

2. Hire, fire, suspend, and terminate employees, consultants, attorneys, and other employee that may hired to work on behalf of Akiachak Native Community.

3. Insure that local hire is enforced to benefit the members and residents of Akiachak Native Community.

4. Insure that the employees of the Akiachak Native Community are doing an adequate job in providing services to members and residents.

5. Must be committed to Akiachak Native Community job responsibilities.

6. Develop and recommend ordinances for Council consideration.

Qualifications: The Tribal Administrator qualifications shall include, but not limited to:

1. The incumbent must have a general knowledge of the office management and be able to work with fellow employees.

2. The incumbent must possess either Bachelor of Arts degree in political science or Associate of Arts degree in Business Management.

If incumbent does not possess either a Bachelor of Arts degree, previous experience and/or training in the field of political science and/or business administration shall be considered.

3. The Incumbent must have general knowledge of the Indian Laws on all levels of government.

4. The incumbent must be able to travel, on behalf of the Community to attend meetings and/or trainings.

5. Yup’ik speaking preferred.

Salary: The salary for the Tribal Administrator shall be based upon the experience and training received by the applicant.

The ninety (90) day probationary period shall apply to all new potential of the Akiachak IRA Council.

Additional Information: The hiring policy of the Akiachak IRA Council is to screen all applicants with the following priorities:

1. The first priority shall be to all qualified members and residents of Akiachak Native Community.

2. The second priority shall be to all qualified Alaska Natives and/or American Indians.

3. The third priority shall be to all qualified non-natives.
