Anne Garland Young endorses Lt. Governor Nancy Dahlstrom

Widow of Rep. Don Young States Dahlstrom is the Candidate to Continue Young’s Legacy.

Today (April 12th, 2024), Anne Garland Young, the widow of Congressman Don Young, announced her endorsement of Lt. Governor Nancy Dahlstrom in her bid to represent Alaska in Congress. Rep. Don Young served as Alaska’s sole Congressman for 49 years, from 1973 to 2022.

“I am proud to endorse Lt. Governor Nancy Dahlstrom for United States Congress. She is the only candidate my husband, Congressman Don Young, would be supporting,” stated Anne Garland Young. “She is an active, experienced, and competent leader in Alaska already, and I know that her integrity and proven representative skills will uniquely serve our state in Congress. Nancy is the person Alaska needs with the values Alaskans share. She will stand up for Alaska in every way, just as my husband did.”

Mrs. Young joins Governor Mike Dunleavy in endorsing Lt. Governor Dahlstrom as she seeks to build on Congressman Young’s incredible legacy. Dahlstrom also has the backing of Republican Leadership including Speaker Mike Johnson, Leader Steve Scalise, and Whip Tom Emmer, and Chairwoman Elise Stefanik.

“It is an absolute honor to receive the trust and support of Anne. I stepped up to run this campaign because I saw our current representative failing to live up to the standard and legacy Congressman Young set,” stated Lt. Governor Dahlstrom. “My promise to Alaska is that I will fight for our state with the same ferocity, passion, and conviction that Don Young did and I will never compromise Alaska’s needs and values.”

Dahlstrom is running against incumbent Democrat Mary Peltola, who was elected in the special election after Congressman Young’s passing in 2022.
