Choose your path in life and succeed

by Peter Twitchell

When you live with someone who is addicted to alcohol, it can be very stressful for the person who isn’t drinking. That could be a mother with a child who drinks and maybe drugs are part of the addiction.

I believe this could be considered Elder Abuse when the parent is an Elder of a child who is doing the abuse. In this case I believe there is help available from organizations like the “Disability Law Center of Alaska” in Anchorage. This organization is there to protect Elders from Elder Abuse.

I sat on their Board of Directors for several years back in 2017. I can say from being a former substance abuse counselor for Akeela Inc., treatment for alcoholism is available and they have a treatment facility which has helped many people, men and women learn to maintain a sober and healthy life.

There is help available to you to become a sober responsible person who can become a healthy and stronger individual in all phases of your life. No one is able to snatch your sobriety from your because it is your life to live to its fullest. Your entire life.

All you got to do is want what’s best for you as a man, woman, husband, wife or caregiver to your children and family. You can then become a responsible member of your community that village/community people can trust and rely on for leadership and guidance. It’s your choice, you can accomplish your goal in life.

Life. Our native tribe is strong, continue to uphold its laws and succeed.

Quyanaqvaa – we have a choice to change.
