The Bethel Warriors Wrestling team traveled to Service High School in Anchorage to compete in the Herm Jones Tournament where several wrestlers won medals in the competition. Both boys and girls participated in the junior varsity event. Joining them were teams from Bartlett High, Buckland, Chugiak, Colony High School, Dimond, Eagle River, East Anchorage, Grace Christian, Homer, Houston, Kalskag, Kenai, Kotzebue, Newhalen, Palmer, Redington, Seward, Soldotna, South Anchorage, Susitna Valley, Wasilla High School, West Anchorage, and the host school Service High.
Winning silver medals were Warrior wrestlers Madden Cockroft (145 lbs. A), Igatius Hunter (145 lbs. B), and Dylan Jackson (171 lbs.).
Bronze medalists included Zachary Chase (125 lbs. A) and Warren Nicholai Jr. (125 lbs. B).
Jordan Klejka also competed in the 119 lb. A weight class. She placed 4th overall. Her teammate Ciera Harpak also took 4th in the 119 lb. B weight division.
Alvinio Vasquez also wrestled (112 lbs.). He placed 5th. Also wrestling in the same bracket was Drini Pellumbi. He placed 6th overall. George Lee finished in 5th in the 152 lbs. weight class.
Justine Erickson-Bradney wrestled in the 130 lbs. bracket. She placed 6th.
Next weekend, December 9-10 is the Regionals tournament that will be taking place at the Bethel Regional High School, home of the Warriors.
