Akiachak principal, Barron Sample, celebrated the January students of the month with an assembly.
Students, teachers, paraprofessional staff, and parents joined together to celebrate the students who are kind, work on their academic studies, and to our student dog mushers.
Students returned to school after their Christmas break and at the high school were asked to think about New Year’s resolutions. Most of these were: have better attendance and make better grades, make the school a better place, and help others.
Not only were the students awarded for being “the best of the month” but the student dog mushers were celebrated for running the Akiak Dash.
Students who were awarded are: Kerry Nick and Mary Chingliak – kindergarten, Taylor Nose and Gabriel Nick – first grade, Jacqueline Ekamrak – second grade, Blake Wassilie – third grade, Sterling Diamond – fourth grade, Kayla George and Zayde Howard – fifth grade, Alyssa Pete and Jedrick Ekamrak – sixth grade, Zachery Schneider – seventh grade, Ariana Ekamrak – eighth grade, Audrey Constantine – ninth grade, Rhiann Nose – tenth grade, Jason Alexie – eleventh grade, Shanley Ekamrak – twelvth grade.
The Akiak Dash winner – Schouviller Wasillie Jr. and third place winner, Charlie Chingliak were given a standing ovation.
