The Computer Age

by Peter Twitchell

I want to share my miracle today, and what a day it was after feeling the absence of the privilege of sharing in the joy of my children.

I got into Facebook to stay in contact with family and to communicate with friends, friends that I had long lost contact with since my high school years.

Going back fifty some years, which are now are a part of my history.

I did not embrace the Computer age, being old fashioned and comfortable with my life, and not knowing neither fully understanding the advantages of new technology and computers.

I began writing all my stories for our local Tundra Drums Newspaper with a #2 pencil and paper, starting in the mid 1970’s. I have written my weekly stories for our local paper ever since. The Delta Discovery invited me to write something I remembered about my youth and the early days of the 1950’s.

The computer has been a blessing for me. No more rewrites and crumpled up papers since I gladly accepted a small portion of the computer age. Thank you to Mr. Bob McCabe my Distributive Education Instructor in my last year of high school, I learned the convenience of the typewriter.

Oh yes, my miracle was when a kind person came up to me and asked to see my phone when I said, I’ve been locked out of Facebook for three months. In discussing my dilemma, the individual asked me what passwords I have used in the past? Since I trusted my acquaintance with my life, amazingly Facebook flashed on my screen in a couple minutes. Then I was to use a new passcode. Thank you kindly.
