The 36th Annual Coastal Conference will be taking place this weekend, starting on Saturday, March 2nd and finishing up on Monday March 4th here in Bethel at the WarriorDome.

On the girls bracket we have the Chefornak Lady Shamans, the Newtok Lady Jaegers, and the Toksook Bay Lady Islanders representing the Island League.

The Kasigluk-Akiuk Lady Grizzlies, the top seed team Kwethluk Lady Carayiit, and the Napaskiak Lady Hawks for the Kusko-Delta League.

And the Kongiganak Lady Wolverines and the Tuntutuliak Lady Bluejays representing the Midcoast League.

On the boys side, there will be the Chefornak Shamans, the Newtok Jaegers, and the Toksook Bay Islanders – the 2022 state 1A champions, for the Island League.

Representing the Kusko-Delta League on the bracket will be the Kasigluk-Akiuk Grizzlies, the top seeded Kwethluk Carayiit, and Napaskiak Hawks.

And for the Midcoast League there will be the Kongiganak Wolverines and the Tuntutuliak Bluejays.

All 1A tournaments that will be taking place this week or the week after:

• Alaska Coastal – March 2-4 at Bethel Regional HS

• Aleutian Chain (Boys) – Feb. 28 at Chief Ivan Blunka/New Stuyahok 

• Aleutian Chain (Girls) – Feb. 28 at Naknek

• Bering Sea – Feb. 28 at Gambell

• Golden Heart – March 7-9 at Fort Yukon (Fairbanks)

• Greater Kuskokwim – Feb. 29 at Tuluksak

• North Slope – Feb. 28 – Mar. 2 at Kali/Point Lay

• Northwest Arctic – Feb. 29 – Mar. 2 at Kotzebue HS

• Peninsula – Feb. 29 – Mar. 2 at Lumen Christi

• Southeast – Feb. 28 – March 2 at Ketchikan HS

• Yukon Delta – Feb. 28 at St. Mary’s

On the 2A side, we have the Chevak Comets hosting the Hooper Bay Warriors for the Western Coastal Conference tournament on February 29th.

The Yukon Delta Conference will also be taking place in St. Mary’s, home of the Eagles. Girls teams on the bracket include the Scammon Bay Lady Eagles, Mountain Village Lady Strivers, the Alakanuk/Nunam Iqua team, the Emmonak Lady Huskies, the Russian Mission Lady Raiders, the Pilot Station Lady King Salmon, the Kotlik Lady Falcons, and the St. Mary’s Lady Eagles.

For the boys LYSD bracket we have the top seed Scammon Bay Eagles, the Pilot Station King Salmon, Kotlik Falcons, Russian Mission Raiders, Emmonak Huskies, the Alakanuk/Nunam Iqua team, the Mountain Village Strivers, and the St. Mary’s Eagles host team.

The Alaska Coastal, Golden Heart, Greater Kuskokwim, and North Slope conferences all have one berth at state. The Aleutian Chain, Bering Sea, Northwest Arctic, Peninsula, Southeast, and Yukon Delta conferences all have 2 berths to state, all according to the Alaska Schools Activities Association’s bylaws.

The Western Coastal Conference for 2A has one berth. The 2A classification also has an at-large berth.
