Public Notice – The PACAF Regional Support Center (PRSC) Environmental Restoration Program Office has completed its first Five-Year Review process for Bethel Radio Relay Station (RRS), Alaska. This process is required by Section 121 of the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA) because hazardous substances, pollutants, or contaminants remain at Bethel RRS: SS001 (including the PAD Area) at levels that do not allow for unlimited use and unrestricted exposure.
The purpose of the Five-Year Review is to ensure that the selected remedy for the site is providing adequate protection of human health and the environment. Site-related documents, such as the August 2011 Record of Decision for site SS001 is available to the public in the U.S. Air Force Civil Engineer Center Administrative Record online at http://afcec.publicadmin-record.us.af.mil/.
