Oscar Evon of Kwigillingok is the new Director of Regional Affiars for the Coastal Villages Region Fund. In his role, Evon will lead the charge in establishing and maximizing communication between the residents, local governing bodies of CVRF’s 20 communities and the company’s Executive team, staff, and Board of Directors.
Born and raised in Kwigillingok, Evon has a deep understanding of the unique challenges in rural Alaska, which will help him meet the needs of CVRF’s residents. Evon is familiar with CVRF and its vision to develop thriving local economies that create opportunities for current and future generations. He served as a board member from 2000-2009, eventually becoming Board President. He also acted as CVRF’s Director of Programs. Evon’s previous roles include Tribal Administrator and COVID-19 coordinator for the Native Village of Kwigillingok, office manager for Alaska Moravian Bible Seminary and Community Outreach Coordinator for E3 Alaska.
