Care for our aging generation

by Peter Twitchell

Today is a brand new day and we have a lot to be thankful for when I think about it. I thank The Almighty Creator God for helping our scientists in the field of medicine for finding a cure for once dynamic viruses that were threatening and invading our homes.

We’re beginning to see the light and a new day through the trees.

All of us collectively as human beings responded dynamically working together to live cleaner and healthier lives, which was encouraged long before we were born.

My mother born in 1909 followed her Elders teachings about being cleaned in mind, body, and spirit. And long before medicine and medical professionals ever told her to keep a clean house she sanitized and cleaned her house and lived a clean life. She was free from alcohol and cigarettes all her life.

It’s nearing the end of June 2023 and our future looks promising. Today medicines are reaching more people who need them. We still live in a world full of bullies who would prevent people from getting the medical care and medicines they need.

Vulnerable people like our Elders are being targeted today by scammers who would take every penny they had in this world if they could, and unfortunately they have taken advantage of many who are unaware and vulnerable.

Let’s face it, our generation is aging and our Elders are passing on and we need to take care of them – they’ve raised us, cared for us, now it’s our turn.

My eyes were opened wider when I came to the Anchorage and Mat-Su area to live. We have Alaska Elders and Natives who moved here from their villages to be with their grandchildren who moved away from home.

Retired Elders are still receiving their Social Security and receiving the benefits of Medicare to help pay for our healthcare and meds prescribed by our healthcare providers.
