Bethel Native Corporation recently received $596,724.19 from the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act Tribal Relief funds. The funds are provided to assist with unanticipated and necessary expenses related and incurred due to the COVID-19 public health pandemic.
In August, the BNC Board of Directors assessed the Department of Treasury provisions with eligible budgetary items and established a CARES Act Relief Fund Policy. As a part of that policy, a shareholder application process to provide financial assistance directly to qualified shareholders is being developed.
Shareholder grant distributions will be made in compliance with all federal guidance and requirements. Eligible shareholders over the age of 18 who attest to being negatively impacted financially by the pandemic will be able to apply for direct relief payments. The amount of the distribution will depend on how many shareholders apply and the qualifying financial need. Letters providing further instruction about this program will be mailed to all adult shareholders in early September.
Bethel Native Corporation has approximately 2,000 shareholders and the Board of Directors appreciates the opportunity to provide this upcoming CARES Act assistance. The Board kindly encourages everyone to follow the recommended safety precautions and implores all shareholders, friends and relatives to please get vaccinated as soon as possible. Being vaccinated is the best defense against COVID-19.
