The Bethel Warrior boys team are the champions of the Nikiski basketball tournament this past weekend. The Warriors also won the coveted Sportsmanship Award. Greg Turner, Ethan Wheeler, Allie Alexie and Isabel Lieb were named to the All Tournament Team. Greg Turner was the Free Throw Champion. The Bethel Lady Warriors won the Hot Shot Competition and took second place overall in the tournament. Lady Warrior Isabel Lieb received the Rus Hitchcock Scrappy Award.
The champion Warrior boys defeated Kenai (77-43), Homer (72-46), Metlakatla (61-45), and Nikiski (69-36) during the tournament. The Lady Warriors defeated Kenai (59-45), Homer (58-48), and Nikiski (48-22) and lost to Metlakatla (56-43).
Next up for the Warriors is the Donlin Gold Tournament at the WarriorDome, home of the Warriors.
