Bethel Police Communications received a report of possibly multiple people with cutting injuries in the 100 block of Housing on 08/27/2021 at approximately 0315 hours. Police officers and fire medics responded to the scene and found two adult male cutting victims. The victims were able to report the identity of the suspect, which enabled the officers to locate the injured suspect a block away and detain him for investigation. Fire medics transported all injured persons to YKHC Emergency Room. One victim, in critical condition, was flown to Anchorage for treatment. The other victim was treated for minor injuries and released.
Mathew Samuelson, 18 years old of Bethel, has been arrested on charges of Attempted Murder 1 and Assault 1, and will be remanded to YKCC once he is released from the hospital.
