Bethel Lady Warriors hosts Nome Lady Nanooks

The Bethel Lady Warriors welcomed the Nome Lady Nanooks for a two game weekend this past Friday and Saturday. Nome is in the same 3A conference as Bethel, along with Kotzebue and Barrow.

The Lady Warriors won both games, 51-26 on Friday and 48-21 on Saturday.

Allie Alexie of the Lady Warriors scored 13 on Friday. Her teammate Briella Herron sunk 11. Payton Boney, Isabel Lieb, Kyana Harpak, Ambrea Jackson, and Malinda Simon also contributed baskets. Also playing for Bethel were Riley Boney, Julia Andrew, Hannah Leinberger, and Ashlynn Lonewolf.

For the Lady Nanooks, Wookie Nichols scored 12 points. Jocelyn Nichols, Alora Stasenko, Brooklyn Crowe, Benny Lie, and Claire Fagerstrom also contributed. Also playing for Nome were Cassidy Martinson, Sage Gregg, Charity Lewis, and Jay Wilson.

On Saturday, which was the Lady Warriors’ last home game, Alexie and Herron scored 15 and 13, respectively. Also making buckets were Boney, Lieb, and Harpak.

For Nome, scoring came from Jocelyn Nichols, Brooklyn Crowe, Benny Lie, and Wookie Nichols.

Also playing games were the Bethel Lady Warrior JV team who hosted the Kwethluk Lady Carayiit for two games. The Nome Lady JV team was unable to field a team so the Carayiit stepped up.

Up next for the Warriors is Regionals at Utqiagvik, March 7-9 where they will vie for one of two berths to the state 3A tournament in Anchorage.
