A Bethel grand jury returned an indictment Tuesday for 34-year-old Darren Peterson on April 04, 2023. Peterson was indicted for one count of murder in the first degree, two counts of murder in the second degree, and one count of assault in the third degree. The charges stem from an incident in Mountain Village on March 24. Peterson will be arraigned on April 11 in Bethel Superior Court before Judge Terrence Haas. Peterson’s bail was previously set at $1,000,000. The charges in the indictment are only allegations and are not evidence of guilt. Peterson is presumed innocent and is entitled to a fair trial at which the prosecution must prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
