In December 2023, the Fairbanks Criminal Suppression Unit (CSU) became aware that Michael Oakman, 55, of Arizona was residing in the Fairbanks area. Oakman was a fugitive from justice wanted on several full extradition felony warrants issued by Navajo County in Arizona. Oakman’s warrants were from 2012 and 2014 cases that included Possession of Dangerous Drugs and felony Trespass. Investigation revealed that Oakman had been living in the Fairbanks area for several years under a false assumed identity and avoided detection by law enforcement on multiple occasions using false identification documents. Members of CSU began tracking Oakman, ultimately locating his residence and beginning surveillance operations. On February 29, CSU contacted Oakman and took him into custody without incident. Oakman was remanded to the Fairbanks Correctional Center to await extradition to Arizona.
