Alaska State Troopers from the Bethel AST Post were in Napaskiak conducting a village visit on March 16, 2023. Shortly after their arrival, they were notified of a residential fire in the village. Troopers responded to the home and attempted to enter the building to check for occupants, but were unable to enter due to heat and flames. Troopers and Napaskiak residents took immediate efforts to extinguish the fire. Troopers were able to locate the resident of the home at a safe location and no one else was suspected to have been in the building at the time of the fire.
