Congratulations to the Alaska Coastal Conference Mixed 6 tournament champions – the Nelson Islanders of Toksook Bay. The Lower Kuskokwim School District hosted the 2022 Mixed 6 Vollebyall tournament on December 1-3, 2022 in Toksook Bay, AK. Teams who made it to the tourney included: the Nunapitchuk Wolves, the Quinhagak Seahawks, Eek Cougars, Kongiganak Wolverines, Akiuk Grizzlies, Kwethluk Kings, Nightmute Nighthawks, Akula Tundra Foxes, Tuntutuliak Bluejays, the Tununak Coasters, and the host team Islanders.
The Islanders will be representing the Alaska Coastal Conference at the Mixed Six State Tournament in Palmer on December 1-3, 2022.
The Kwethluk Kings made it safely to Toksook Bay to the tournament after not being able to make it sooner due to weather.
“Thank you to the Toksook Bay Staff for hosting the regional event,” wrote Sharon Wegner, LKSD Student Activities Director. “Preparations and getting things in order took months of planning before everyone’s arrival. I would like to personally thank Cassidy Trussoni for all her hard work and dedication organizing the regional event.”
