Federal litigation challenging the Donlin Gold Mine

Oral argument in federal litigation challenging the Donlin Gold Mine in Southwest Alaska was scheduled for Monday, June 24

Six Tribes in the Yukon Kuskokwim Delta of Southwest Alaska have filed a federal lawsuit in U.S. District Court in Alaska challenging the Donlin Gold Mine, a project that would be the largest pure gold mine in the world in one of the largest river deltas in a region vital to Alaska Native people for their continued ways of life.

Earthjustice attorneys for the Tribes presented oral argument in this federal litigation at 1 pm on Monday, June 24. Each side was provided with 20 minutes to present arguments, so the oral argument should last about an hour or so in total.

Rulings on all Donlin litigation (Earthjustice represents clients in one federal case and three state cases) are expected by fall or winter.

The case was heard at U.S. District Court in Anchorage, 222 W. 7th Ave. The argument was in Anchorage Courtroom 2.
