William Thomas “Bill” Sigler

March 30, 1943 – April 18, 2025

William Thomas “Bill” Sigler born March 30, 1943, in Gary, Indiana passed away on April 18, 2025, in Anchorage, Alaska.

Bill is survived by his 4 children: Matthew Sigler, Sonia Farrally, Demian Sigler & Chaytea Nielsen. He was blessed with 10 grandchildren & 6 great grandchildren. He is survived by 4 sisters: Barbara H. Sigler, Kathy Sigler Kohnhorst (Allen), Susie Sigler Peters (Bob), and Joanne M. Sigler (Derek Mayo)

Bill was the first born to Boyd Cooper “Tom” Sigler and Ethel E. Sigler nee Schoenberger and grew up in Louisville, Kentucky, graduated from Flaget High School. He attained the Eagle Scout rank in the Boy Scouts of America. He graduated from the U.S. Coast Guard Academy, New London, CT. He served aboard the USCG Cutter Barataria (WAVP-381) in Portland, ME before becoming a Coast Guard aviator and served at Coast Guard Air Stations in Kodiak, AK and San Francisco, CA. He had achieved the rank of Lieutenant before he left the Coast Guard in 1976.

After he left the Coast Guard, Bill briefly went to medical school. Eventually Bill moved to Alaska and was a bush pilot, longshoreman and dabbled in real estate. Other activities include being a part time guide for visitors from Russia. Bill was also a Ham operator, an avid bird watcher, and had a passion for linguistics and travel.

Bill never met a stranger; he met a new friend to add to his vast network of people nationwide or do we dare say worldwide?

The family is planning a Celebration of Life for Bill in October when his children can be together.
