Warriors split wins with Kotzebue Huskies

The Bethel varsity boys Warrior basketball team hosted the Kotzebue Huskies this weekend, splitting the wins with their 3A western conference counterparts.

On Friday, the Warriors came out on top winning in a close match, 53-50. Warrior Greg Turner scored 18 in the contest. His teammates Madden Cockroft and Matthew Fredericks also finished in double digits, 11 and 10.

At the half, the Warriors led 26-20. The Huskies’ Devin Sheldon scored 20 for Kotzebue. Ayden Wesley had 10 points.

On Saturday night, the Huskies won 71-62. The Warriors had foul trouble. Three Warriors fouled out in the game: Paul Dyment, Mason Fitka, and Gustof Erickson.

Kotzebue led by one at the half, 34-33. Madden Cockroft scored 21 for the Warriors. Greg Turner sunk 18 and Matthew Fredericks made 13 points.

The Lady Warriors, who were playing in Kotzebue, won both their games beating the Lady Huskies 44-32 and 39-30.

The next games will be with the Nome Nanooks this weekend at the WarriorDome.
