The Bethel Warriors and Lady Warriors JV teams hosted the Aniak Halfbreeds and the Kalskag Grizzlies this past weekend at the WarriorDome. On Friday night, the Bethel JV Lady Warriors won 29 – 17 vs. the Aniak Lady Halfbreeds. The Bethel JV Warriors scored 59 to 18 for the Kalskag Grizzlies.
On Saturday January 14th, 2023 the Bethel Lady Warriors won their game with the Aniak Lady Halfbreeds, 42-12. The Bethel JV Warrior boys beat the Kalskag Grizzlies 53-30.
Bethel Junior high teams warmed up the court with their own scrimmages on Friday and Saturday.
The Bethel Warriors varsity teams were in Delta for the 17th Annual Dean Cummings Sr. Memorial Tournament. Teams participating included boys and girls squads from Susitna Valley, Nenana, Galena, North Pole, Glennallen, and the Delta host team.
The Warriors took first place in the tournament defeating the North Pole Patriots by one point, 43-42. The Lady Warriors placed second overall, after playing the Lady Patriots also of North Pole in the championship game, 28-40.
Lady Warriors Payton Boney and Briella Herron and Warriors Greg Turner and Matthew Fredericks were named to the All Tournament Team at the awards ceremony.
