The Bethel Regional High School Warriors will head into the upcoming Western Conference tournament just they way they had wanted – with plenty of momentum.
The Warriors closed out their regular season this past weekend with an impressive outing in Sitka. Bethel reeled off three wins i
n as many days in Southeastern Alaska and will head into this weekend’s conference tournament as the No. 1 seed.
Bethel kicked off its trip to Sitka on March 1 with an 56-46 victory over the Wolves, a state qualifier a season ago. The following night, the Warriors pounded out a 57-40 victory over the Mt. Edgecumbe Braves.
On Saturday, BRHS closed out its three-game road trip with a thrilling 74-71 win over Sitka.
Bethel finished the regular season with a 15-7 record.
The Lady Warriors didn’t enjoy the same level of success on their trip south. The BRHS girls went 0-3, including a 50-29 loss to Sitka on Saturday.
The Bethel girls led off the trip with a 44-35 loss to Sitka on March 1. They suffered a 49-36 loss to Mt. Edgecumbe the following night.
The Lady Warriors finished the year at 8-13 and will enter the conference tournament as the No. 4 seed.
The 2017 Western Conference tournament will be held March 9-11 at Dimond High School in Anchorage. The top two finishers at the tournament will advance to the Class 3A state tournament.
