The Bethel Warriors boys and girls wrestling teams traveled to the Hutchinson Meltdown wrestling tournament in Fairbanks this past weekend following the duals at Lathrop High.
Here are the results from the Individual bracketed tournament for our two JV boys and our girls team that wrestled on Saturday, day after the dual tournament.
Emilie Madson’s placed 3rd in the 100 lb. division. She defeated Mia Meany of West Valley. She lost her second match to Grace Loutzenhiser of Colony in the semifinals. She won her next 2 matches defeating Melanie Solizar-Taylor of Lathrop and her teammate Constance Albert.
100 lb. division wrestler Constance Albert’s placed is 4th overall in her bracket. She beat Kaitlyn Manning of Eielson High School in the quarterfinals. She lost to Pagan Lester of Newhalen in the semifinals. In the consolation semis she lost to Mia Meany of West Valley. In her last match she fell to teammate Emilie Madson.
Lacey Samuelson placed 4th in the 114 lb. weight class. She fell to Megan Baise of West Valley and Kaylana Nations of Lathrop. She won her next bout against Halle Allen of Lathrop. She lost to Amaya Coon of Lathrop in her last match.
In the girls 120 lb. weight division Jordan Klejka placed 3rd. She was defated by Kaydance Burkeen of Eielson High School in the quarterfinals. She won her next three bouts defeating Rhea Kanuk of Nenana High School, Dari Mantzi of Lathrop, and Kaydance Burkeen of Eielson High School.
Hannah Howell competed in the 126 lb. weight class. She won her first match defeating Chloe Parsons of Nenana High School in the quarterfinals. She lost to Abigail Whitlock of North Pole in her next bout, and also fell to Farah Brady of Lathrop.
Girls 132 lb. wrestler Briella Herron took 2nd place in her weight division. She lost her first match to Disiree Moore of North Pole. In Round 2 she won by fall over Maci Burkeen of Eielson High School. She won her next two rounds over McKenzie Hayes of Lathrop and Erica Lopez of Hutchison High School.
In the girls 138 bracket, Isabel Lieb placed 3rd overall. She won by fall over Savannah Stout of South Anchorage in the quarterfinals. She lost to Kaitlyn Cottrell of Colony High School in the semis. She won her next match in the consolation semis against Madison Grapengeter of Delta High School. She defeated Savannah Stout of South Anchorage in the match for third place.
145 lb. wrestler Payton Boney took 2nd place in her bracket. She had a bye in the first round. In the quarterfinals she won by fall over Aspen Kelly of Colony High School by fall. She also won by fall over Bianca Hart of Lathrop Wrestling in the semifinals. She lost to Heaven Matheny of Lathrop Wrestling in the championship match.

Julian Sebastian of the Bethel Warriors JV team placed 3rd in the 112 lb. weight class. He received a bye in the first round. He was defeated by Hayden Roedel of North Pole. He won his next match in the consolation semis over Trevor Rodriguez of Eielson High School. For the 3rd place match he won by fall over Alexander King of Colony High School.
Jeffrey Pavil also on the JV team competed in the boys 171 lb. weight division. He received a bye in the first round. He lost the quarterfinal match falling to Joseph Sword of Hutchison High School. In the consolation round 2 he also lost to Donovan Crockett of Colony High School.
“Our next competition will see our Boys Team wrestle in Nikiski at the Top Dawg Tourney and our Girls Team wrestle at the Halloween Bash at South HS next weekend,” wrote BRHS Coach Darren Lieb.
