The Bethel Junior High Wrestling team competed at the Tanana Invitational Wrestling Tournament on March 3-4, 2023 in Fairbanks, AK. Wrestling squads who competed include: Anchor Kings , Anchorage Christian Schools, Avalanche Wrestling Association, Bethel Jr. High, Blatchley, Chugach Eagles Wrestling, Colony Middle School, Cordova Wolverines, Delta Junction Junior High School, Dillingham Middle School, Eielson Middle School, Fronteras Middle School, Glennallen Middle School, Grace Christian, Haines Middle School, Homer, Hopson Middle School, Houston Middle School, Juneau Youth Wrestling Club, Kenai Middle School, Lions Den Wrestling Club, Mid Valley Wolves, Nenana Middle School, Nikiski, Nome Middle School, North Pole Middle, Palmer Junior Middle School, Randy Smith Middle School, Redington Jr/Sr High, Ryan, SWDP, Seward, Skyview Middle School, Soldotna, Tanana Middle School, Teeland Middles School, Tok Middle School, Valdez Middle School, Wasilla Middle School, and Wrangell Wolves.
“They all battled tough and we saw a lot of improvement,” wrote Hans Holkesvik of the Bethel Warriors team. “Claire Dyment and Riley Boney both won their respective weight classes and the team had 13 out of 20 of wrestlers place overall.”
