Tuluksak teacher arrested

The Alaska State Troopers Bethel Violent Offender’s Unit (VOU) arrested John Paul Donald Douglas, 37 years old of Tuluksak, for an outstanding $50,000 + CATP arrest warrant stemming from an investigation coordinated by the Alaska Bureau of Investigation Technical Crimes Unit (TCU) and Bethel VOU. He was arrested on 08/19/2017 at approximately 1230 hours. Douglas is facing one (1) charge of Distributing Child Pornography and eight (8) charges of Possessing Child Pornography. Douglas was arrested in Tuluksak and remanded at the Yukon Kuskokwim Correctional Center without further incident.

As a result of an ongoing investigation by the Alaska Bureau of Investigation and the Alaska State Troopers Violent Offenders Unit in Bethel, Alaska, Douglas was indicted on Aug. 17th, 2017 by the Bethel Grand Jury and charged with nine counts related to the possession and distribution of child pornography. Douglas is alleged to have used peer-to-peer file-sharing software to possess and download videos involving prepubescent female children engaged in sex acts. Douglas was a seventh grade teacher at the Yupiit School District’s Tuluksak School. He faces a potential sentence of two to 99 years on each count should he be convicted.
