Thunder Basketball Club

Last weekend was an amazing weekend at Camp Verdes, Arizona. We enjoyed ourselves. For students and parents alike it was good to be back in the gym. The crowd, the momentum and making more memories!

Traveling for the weekend for a basketball tournament, the excitement, the jitters, cheering and the environment. It was missed during COVID 2020 and it was nice to be back in it!

I was with the Adams Family. Their son got his whole family on both sides to watch his games. He loved that both his nalis were there, his grandma, aunts, uncles and siblings. Even his papa made his appearance too, he loved it!

It meant everything to him.

They opened the season of summer games with a bang. The family is always thankful for the support. The games, especially the last is what makes everything exciting. It was a very intense game, the crowd was loud, the gym was packed and it was a close game. You all know the vibes.

It was exciting and had you at the edge of your seats. The boys played an excellent game. Smooth, quick, graceful, running full steam ahead, dribbling the ball flawlessly coordinated. These were sixth grade boys playing their game better than most high school boys who often go into a game with their fast moves and power plays, sometimes over powering the game causing poor passes, fouls, and less teamwork.

I for one was amazed at the agility, teamwork and sportsmanship of the 6th grade boys who played well but lost by 1 point. They had a good run, shook it off and now on to the next one.

All the high-fives, fist bumps, stranger hugs, and “good game” uplifted them. I’m sure we’ll see them all again for a long time to come. We appreciate you. (Olivia McCabe)
