Today (July 1st, 2024), the Supreme Court upheld centuries of presidential and legal tradition by agreeing with President Trump and cementing presidential immunity in American law. This decision by the Supreme Court preserves the power of the presidency and ensures that past, current, and future presidents are free from legal action over the hard decisions they had to make in their post.
Today’s decision by the Supreme Court ensures that our presidents are able to effectively do their jobs without fear of legal repercussions for making tough calls,” Lt. Governor Nancy Dahlstrom said in a statement. “I applaud the Supreme Court for preserving the power of the presidency and our national security with this ruling.

AFP Action-Alaska announces first endorsements for State Legislature
AFP Action Alaska is endorsing Goecker (SD-L), Hajdukovich (SD-P), Bynum (HD-01), Nelson (HD-18) and State Rep. Wright (HD-22)
Today, Americans for Prosperity Action-Alaska (AFP Action-Alaska) announced its first five endorsements, all candidates for the Alaska State Legislature.
AFP Action-Alaska is endorsing Jared Goecker (SD-L) and Leslie Wien Hajdukovich (SD-P) for State Senate. For State House, AFP Action-Alaska is endorsing Jeremy Bynum (HD-01), David Nelson (HD-18) and State Rep. Stanley Wright (HD-22).
AFP Action-Alaska will continue to leverage the full weight of its grassroots outreach to support these candidates.
AFP Action-Alaska Chair Bethany Marcum released the following statement:
“As we head into election season, AFP Action-Alaska’s top priority is helping policy champions get elected to the state legislature. This begins with electing Goecker, Hajdukovich, Bynum and Nelson and re-electing State Rep. Wright.
“With support from the largest grassroots organization in the country, AFP Action-Alaska will help move the needle through grassroots activities in these key target districts.
“The nation and Alaska are facing unprecedented economic uncertainty and it’s never been more important to elect principled candidates to the state legislature.”
Endorsed Candidates:
Jared Goecker (SD-L): Goecker has expressed his desire for fiscally conservative policies that will bring down spending in Alaska. He’s a vocal advocate for unleashing Alaskan energy to bring more jobs to our state.
Leslie Wien Hajdukovich (SD-P): As a former Fairbanks School Board president, Hajdukovich will bring valuable insights to the Alaska Senate. She will fight for economic freedom and rein in burdensome government overregulation.
Jeremy Bynum (HD-01): An Air Force veteran, Bynum has dedicated his life to public service and the betterment of Alaska. As an engineer in the energy sector, Bynum is uniquely qualified to be a policy champion for key energy issues facing the legislature.
David Nelson (HD-18): During his time in the Alaska State House, Nelson was a key partner on reforms related to occupational licensing as well as veterans’ issues. We need a trusted fighter like Nelson in the legislature to curb Alaska’s reckless spending.
State Rep. Stanley Wright (HD-22): Rep. Wright is a critical leader, championing bills that expand employment opportunities by breaking down occupational licensing barriers, and by advocating for fiscal responsibility and Alaskan energy production.
AFP-Action-Alaska will continue to roll out endorsements for state legislative candidates in the following weeks.
