Sharon Merle Kristovich, a woman of deep kindness, generosity, and selflessness, passed away on her 83rd birthday, Sunday, November 24, 2024. She was born Sharon Jung in Bethel, Alaska, to Henry and Gladys Jung, the second of eleven children. Sharon’s childhood was marked by the close-knit bonds of her family, and she carried these connections with her throughout her life.

Sharon graduated as a Registered Nurse from Sacred Heart Nursing School in Spokane, WA, and embarked on a career that spanned across the U.S., including Milwaukee, Oakland, Dillingham, and Bethel, Alaska.

In 1972, she married William “Bill” Kristovich. Sharon was devoted to her family, ensuring her two sons were surrounded by the love of extended relatives.

A devout Christian and practitioner of charitable causes, Sharon enjoyed volunteering for the Catholic Church and the VFW Auxiliary. She was a skilled caretaker to her aging parents, aunts, and uncles, providing compassionate care to all. Just a few of Sharon’s numerous enjoyable pursuits included gardening, berry picking, traveling, preparing smoked salmon strips, and cherishing the joy of family gatherings.

Sharon is preceded in death by her husband Bill, who passed just 12 days before her. She is survived by her sons, David Smania and Matthew (Heidi) Kristovich, granddaughters Siena and Anya Smania, Isabel Baesman, her siblings Lillian Marcus, Catherine Dale, Richard (Alice) Jung, Bernice (Tim) Albright, Hilary Jung, Henry (Laura) Jung Jr., Kimberly Jung, Kelly (Theron) Powell, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and stepchildren.

Our family invites all who loved Sharon to come and celebrate her life on Saturday, January 18th at the Anchorage Funeral Home & Crematory at 1800 Dare Avenue in Anchorage, Alaska, from 2 PM – 3:30 PM.
