I respect Tribes and appreciate our tribal governments for helping people. When I lived in Bethel Urucararmiut (ONC) used to make fish available and lunches for their elderly tribal members. ONC has been such and will continue to serve its tribal members.
It has been an honor to belong to ONC Tribe, I am forever grateful for what they did during the COVID-19 Delta virus epidemic. Quyana cakneq ONC for your concern for your tribal members well being!
I live outside of Bethel area, but will always be grateful for ONC and their concern and work to serve their members.
I am a member of the Mat-Su Elders council and as such have been included in the Knik Tribal Salmon Distribution and was given two salmon I call sayak as my Mom and Dad used to say.
When I close my eyes and remember my childhood growing up in Bethel; in my memory I go back home and remember my childhood when I fished off my Dad’s wooden skiff during the calm summer months. Using a #6 hook with salmon bait, pulling up grayling, Dolly Varden, rainbow trout, and small whitefish.
I brought my catch home and Mom would cook them for supper. Dad would turn on his Zenith broadband radio and we would hear KICY radio station in Nome.
Wonderful thing about life is closing my eyes and remember life as it was when I was a boy.
Bethel was a beautiful quiet town with Elders and all the Old Timers who made it that way – paradise.
