On Tuesday, the 31st Alaska State Legislature convened. As a member of the Senate Majority, I have been assigned the following committees: Senate Finance, Community and Regional Affairs, Legislative Council and the Legislative Budget & Audit Committee. As the Senior Senator, I will continue to work for issues important to the people of Delta. If you have an issue you wish to bring to me attention, please feel free to contact my office at any time. FY20 Legislative CAPSIS Program

If your community is looking for funding for a capital improvement project (CIP), I highly recommend applying to the Governor to be included in his proposed Capital Budget. Send your CIP information to Donna Arduin/Director, Office of Management and Budget, PO Box 110020, Juneau, AK 99811-0020.

The Legislative CAPSIS program is OPEN. For communities that have used this program in the past, a password has been sent to you. For communities new to the program, please don’t hesitate to contact my office to register for the program. Contact Patricia Walker toll free 1-(866)-465-4453 in order to make sure your community isn’t left out of the CAPSIS system. The CAPSIS closing date will be determined by the Senate and House Co-Chairs, notice of the closing date will be sent out.

If your community is interested in applying for a Legislative grant for a capital improvement project, here is the information you will need to provide:

*a description of the project; the cost of the project to completion, such as cost of material

*cost of shipment

*cost of labor

*will there be other funds used, such as federal funds or grants

*has the project been approved by the local community council – provide copy of resolution

*who will be responsible for the costs of maintenance and operations of the project once completed

*who will be responsible for managing the project, such as the City manager
