Seasons Greetings and Happy Holidays from Chevak Alaska!

My name is Roberta Agimuk, I am currently the Resilient Alaska Youth (RAY) AmeriCorps Member for my community in Chevak. I would like to share my deepest gratitude to thank all the people that made it possible for the Chevak Ayagyuat Dancers (youth dancers) to attend this year’s Alaska Federation of Natives (AFN) in October 2018. Big THANK YOU to the CHEVAK TRADITIONAL COUNCIL, CHEVAK COMPANY CORPORATION, DONLIN GOLD and CALISTA CORPORATION in your kind donations. What an honor and wonderful opportunity to share our traditional songs and dances, it is with great pleasure that we hope to keep this tradition alive for the youth to share with the younger generations to come!

BSAR Thanks to Fiddle Dance Sponsors

Dear 2018 Annual Fiddle Dance fundraiser sponsors,

Our successes in responding to people in danger and in immediate need throughout the Yukon Kuskokwim Delta can be contributed to your continued generous contributions. Your commitment to supporting BSAR allows us to maintain our BSAR building, our vehicles, boats, snowmobiles and ATV’s. It also allows us to purchase insurance for our equipment which allows some piece of mind for our volunteer members.

Every year we are proud to be part of the process finding missing persons and bringing them home. Unfortunately, we live in a harsh environment that is continuously changing and makes it harder for people to travel, so therefore the dangers are increasing.

We at BSAR have continued our efforts in providing vital information on travel and conditions through aerial surveys, ice thickness tests, trail marking, and passing on the information by utilizing radio and other social media outlets. We are trying to become more preventative in our efforts.

This year we have increased our capabilities by adding to BSAR, an SAR canine and local handler who has traveled repeatedly for training and actual SAR missions. We are proud to announce that our handler and SAR canine will be certified early next year as a cadaver and tracking dog.

We also have purchased a Maltrice Drone capable of thermo imaging, high optics and forward looking infrared radar which will greatly enhance our efforts.

We have always appreciated your financial support as we are a non-profit all volunteer group which has existed in Bethel for the last 41 years.

Thank you to GCI, Donlin Gold, Calista, Alaska Airlines, Ravn Air, Yute Air, Grant Aviation, Northern Air Cargo, VFW 10041, BNC, ONC, YKHC, Arctic Chiropractor, Alaska USA, Prop Shop, Casey’s Carpet, Snack Shack, BP Oil, Corina’s Caselot, Napaimute Corp, Bethel P.C., NAPA, Swanson’s, Nicholson’s Auto, Sammy’s Market, Cezary’s Auto, Back Creek Marine. and Chris Jacobs.
