School in Platinum to close

The Arviq School in Platinum will be closed following the completion of the 2023-2024 school year due to low enrollment numbers. The Lower Kuskokwim School District Board of Education met on April 25, 2024 and made the decision to close the school. Board members in attendance were Clarence Daniel, Mike Husa, Hugh Dyment, Felix Albert, Wassilie Pleasant, Oscar Active, Sr., Janet Erik, Richard Long, and via Zoom: Catherine Cedars.
