Denae Ulak of Scammon Bay is following her dream of becoming a paramedic. She graduated from the University of Alaska Fairbanks (UAF) Community and Technical College (CTC) Paramedic Program in July 14th, 2021.

Denae also earned an AA degree in General Education from UAF in 2020. She is the daughter of Byron and Darlene Ulak of Scammon Bay.

“It has always been my dream to work in the medical field as a paramedic and I want to encourage all the youth and young adults that dreams do come true with hard work and determination to meet your goal,” she said.

Part of the UAF Paramedic Program had Denae and her classmates participating in an externship to gain valuable real world experience. Denae’s externship took place in Gulfport, MS for two months.

She gained more practice in the field and also fulfilled the required hours for her program.

“It was an amazing experience and I got to learn and see different EMS calls that I learned about in class,” Denae said.

Currently Denae is going back to school full time enrolled in UAF’s firefighting academy. Congratulations on your success Denae, we are all very proud of you.
