Rachel Emma Unruh May 19, 1965 – Feb. 23, 2018

Rachel Emma Unruh, 52, passed away on February 23, 2018 at Seattle Swedish Hospital.
Rachel was born in Bethel, Alaska on May 19, 1965. She graduated from Kotlik Regional High in 1984 as Valedictorian with High Honors. She was involved in basketball, volleyball, Eskimo dancing, NYO, the Knowledge Bowl and was the Captain of the cheerleading team. She attended Sheldon Jackson College for one year.
Rachel lived in Kotlik, St. Michaels, Nome, Dillingham, Kotzebue, Reno, Nevada and spent the last 17 years in Anchorage.
Rachel was a commercial fisherman and worked for Bill Moore’s Slough and Pastoliarraq, Alaska Commercial Company, Maniilaq Association and for Costco for the past 17 years.
Rachel enjoyed Eskimo dancing, crossword puzzles, working out at the Alaska Club, laughing very loud and more recently Facebook.
Rachel loved to yell ‘Miiikkee!!!!!’ to her life time companion. She was always very helpful and never hesitated. Blanket on, blanket off- Christine. She loved Facebook when she got it and enjoyed her sipping for the day. She learned to text and always called and left messages to return her call ASAP. She always left a text or message with “Loves ya’. Rachel loved the Lord with all her heart and soul.
Rachel was a mother, sister, grandmother, aunt and all around good person.
Rachel is survived by the love of her life Mike McCullugh; her children Paul Aparezuk, Louise Yunak, Calson Aparezuk, Sharon Andrews and James Unruh; grandchildren MaKaiyak Prince, Marcus Prince, Myles Yunak and Micah Prince, Rashard Okitkun, Candace Agathluk, DeRose Bird, and Cynthia and Cyril Aparezuk and grandparents Paul and Tatianna Hunt and Leo and Leah Aparezuk.
Rachel was preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Martina Aparezuk.
Services was held at Kehl’s Legacy Funeral Home on Thursday, March 8, 2018. The viewing will begin at 2 PM and services will be at 4 PM.
Rachel’s ashes will be buried at Bill Moore’s Slough by her parents.
