Pauline Jean Moses Nov. 26, 1958 – July 8, 2017

Pauline Jean Moses (Samuel) passed away peacefully at a friend’s home in Anchorage on July 08, 2017, at the age of 58. Pauline is survived by her husband, Paul; her children Clayton, Paul, Jesse, Roy Charles, Emma, and Sarah; her siblings, Molly Chythlook, John Samuel, and Ben Samuel. She is preceded in death by her parents Emma Samuel, and Willie Samuel; her siblings Peter Samuel, Gusty Samuel, Daniel Samuel, Natalia Isadore, and Alice Samuel.
Pauline was born on November 26,1958 in Aleknagik Alaska. She graduated from Dillingham High School. She started a family with Paul Moses in 1980. Over 12 years the couple welcomed 6 children into their home, and they all remember her as a caring mom who sacrificed much to raise them properly. After living awhile in Platinum, she attended the University of Alaska Fairbanks, and became the village health-aide. Later Pauline moved on to work as a health-aide part time filling in at different villages when needed.
Pauline will be missed and remembered as a caring mom, sister, grandmother, and friend to many. She enjoyed spending time with her large family. She always seemed to know exactly how distant relatives were related, and treated them as close family. Many times, she welcomed distant and close relatives to live in her home. She helped many get back on their feet, and deal with hardships such as addiction. Pauline loved to travel, many times to visit someone sick in the hospital, or to take her grandchildren home to rural Alaska. She always took time to call people and make sure they were doing well.
Pauline enjoyed making crafts. She made traditional native clothing, jewelry, and grass baskets for her large family. She also sold crafts at Saturday markets and festivals like Fur Rendezvous. Pauline enjoyed going to markets because it was a time to visit people and catch up on family news.
A small viewing ceremony for family and close friends will be on August 03 @7PM. The funeral is scheduled for August 04 at Dillingham Seventh Day Adventist Church. A burial will follow at the Aleknagik Evergreen Memorial Cemetery. After the burial, there will be a reception/potluck. The location will be announced at the ceremony.
All are welcome to attend, mourn, and celebrate. In lieu of flowers, please deposit donations to Alaska USA checking acct. #1519780 or 1st National Bank acct. #1921 4220.
