
Paul Nukusuk, Uliiq was born to Benjamin Nukusuk and Patricia Nukusuk-Bunyan on September 12, 1939 and went to be with the Lord on September 18, 2024. His wife of 57 years. MaryAnn was praying with him as he transitioned from the world to heaven.
Paul Nukusuk faced adversity in his young life, but despite those early challenges, he carried himself to be loving, kind, and to always have faith in all circumstances.
Despite having a seventh grade education. Paul went on to join the National Guard for 20 years and ran retail businesses, was a store manager for many years, a counselor, worked in the Qungasvik Program and worked hard to support his family.
Paul married MaryAnn on November 6, 1966 and had 15 kids. He always wanted a large family. and they made sure to raise their family in a loving environment with blessed childhood. Paul and Maryann are blessed with many grandchildren and great grandchildren. No matter where he went he was always with a group of his family.
Throughout his grandfather years. his grandchildren remember him as a family oriented man who loved to take them to church, go on rides, take picnics at the beach, make pancakes on Saturday mornings and gather subsistence with family. He preached the importance of education, independence, and self-sufficiency because he knew he would not be here forever.
Paul is survived by his wife MaryAnn; children Benjamin and Caroline, Martha and Albert Simon, Joshua Kopanuk, Teresa Inez, Ardyce, Cheryl “Juggie”, Jolene, Paul Jason, Wilma, Agnes, Phillip, MariAnn, Jolene “Silo”, and his last living sibling Rosalie Serovy, and too many grandchildren and great-grandchildren to mention.
Paul is preceded in death by his parents Benjamin Nukusuk and Patricia Nukusuk-Bunyan, Dick Bunyan. Siblings Aloysius Nukusuk, Theresa Andrew, Wilfred Bunyan, Louie Bunyan Sr., Anthony Bunyan. Children: Minnie Lake, David Axel Henry. Grandchildren: Patricia Sylvia Lake, Spencer Lake, Isaiah Elijah Enoch Lake, Isaiah Elijah Lake, Paul Adrian Lake, Sarah Hannah Echo.
Paul’s legacy was to have faith in God, to love and that can be seen through the success of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. His love and spirit will live on in the hearts of all the people who knew him.
