Pamela Angela Mae Cook

July 11, 1983 – Nov. 9, 2023

Pamela Angela Mae Cook “Aluviilnguq”, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend was born on July 11, 1983. She grew up primarily in Alakanuk, Alaska. Pamela had an extremely playful jokester personality. She had a way of making people laugh with her goofiness. There was never a dull moment around her. Can you hear her laughter now? I can.

Pamela was surrounded by family and friends that were faithful to the end. She LOVED children! Kids either really loved her or were scared of her because of her “bitstocking”. Despite her hardships, she continued to always help others physically, financially, and most of all emotionally. She NEVER forgot anyone’s birthday or important events in their life.

For years, she was told by hospital providers how long they estimated that she would live. She continued to keep moving forward. She was very outspoken. She always spoke her mind and was completely honest. She always said, “Ta-da!”

She enjoyed basketball and dancing and riding around. She could drive around for hours. She loved picking berries as fast as she could. She always brought family members out shopping and exploring every place that she could explore! She ULTIMATELY loved, loved, loved her grandson Dean, “Oosh my babeh boy!”

Pamela is survived by her son Kaleb Cook and her grandson Dean Amarae Cook, brother James A. Cook and his family, sisters Felicia and Tabitha Cook and their families. She was loved by many nieces and nephews and relatives on the Cook’s side from family in South Dakota, the Smith side and their families, the Hansons and their family, and Martha Sergie and her family!

Pamela was preceded by her parents Terry and Theresa Cook, her brother Robert Cook, her grandparents Jack and Georgia Cook and Joe and Angela Smith.

In Pamela’s last days she sang her favorite song, “King of My Heart”. Though she was frail, she sang it even to her last day. She sang unto the end, Jesus you’ll always be, King of my Heart!

The family would like to extend their deepest thanks to everyone that helped. We want to thank the caregivers and all the friends and family that visited her while she was in the hospital.

Special thanks to the Alakanuk Tribe, Alakanuk Native Corp., YDFDA, VFW in Bethel, Calista Corporation, AC Store, Dave’s Store, the cross makers and the outer box makers and everyone that brought food and showed love to the family and everyone else that we haven’t mentioned.

Quyana cakneq for your love and support.

To our sister, auntie, grandma, and niece: Rest in Peace and fly high with the angels, God and Jesus. Pamela Angela Mae Cook dearly loved and missed, forever rest in peace and happy heavenly birthday.
