Oney of Alakanuk appointed to Federal Subsistence Board

The Secretaries of Interior and Agriculture jointly appointed three new tribally nominated public members to the Federal Subsistence Board. The Federal Subsistence Board was established by the Secretaries and delegated the authority for administering the subsistence taking and uses of fish and wildlife on Federal public lands and waters. With these appointments (shown in Bold), the current membership of the Federal Subsistence Board is:

Anthony Christianson, Chair – Hydaburg

Charles Brower, Public Member – Utqiaġvik

Raymond Oney, Public Member – Alakanuk

Benjamin Payenna, Public Member – Nome

Rhonda Pitka, Public Member – Beaver

Frank Woods, Public Member – Dillingham

Jolene John, Regional Director – Bureau of Indian Affairs

Vacant, State Director – Bureau of Land Management

Sarah S. Creachbaum, Regional Director – National Park Service

Sara D. Boario, Regional Director – U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service

Chad VanOrmer, Regional Forester – U.S. Forest Service

The next Federal Subsistence Board meeting on Fisheries Regulations is February 4-7, 2025 in Anchorage at the Lakefront Hotel.
