Alaska State Troopers assisted in stopping a man from harming himself during an incident in the village of Kwethluk. Troopers report that on 2/1/2017 at about 1445 hours, AST in Bethel received a report of a suicidal man in Kwethluk. Local police officers reported the man was holding a knife to his throat and threatening to kill himself. Troopers responded and contacted the man. After an hour of negotiating, Troopers talked the man into giving up the knife. Troopers transported the man with the assistance of local officers to the Yukon-Kuskokwim Delta Regional Hospital for a mental health evaluation under Title 47.
