Nina passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on February 20th, 2023 at 1:54 PM.
Nina James was born on March 1st, 1934 to the late Ickeley and Irusqanaq Paulina Charles. She then married the late Isaac Qayista James, they had 4 children: Charles James Sr., Bonnie, Eddie, and Jolene James.
Nina loved her nieces, nephews, and grandchildren equally. Nina enjoyed and loved helping raise her nephews, nieces, and grandchildren’s children. She loved subsistence gathering, attending church until she was not able to anymore. Nina was always welcoming and greeting people and made sure they were not hungry. Her last words were, “Kitak Kingunemni Kenka Atuqiciu.”
Nina is survived by her children Bonnie James, Eddie James & Robyn Kasayulie, Jolene James & Tim Noatak, her grandchildren Jaymie and Arthur Phillip, Staci James, Charles James Jr., Elisa Andrew, Charleigh James, Isaac James, and Isaiah James, and her great grandson Elias James-Phillip, her nephews, nieces, grandchildren, great grandchildren too numerous to name.
Nina is preceded in death by her parents Ickeley & Irusqanaq Paulina Charles, her husband Isaac James, her son Charles James Sr., her brothers Henry Charles, Joseph Charles SR., Eddie Charles, Moses Charles, her sisters Julia Nicolai, and Emma Amos and granddaughter Angelina James.
