Nate Scott Hoffman

Nate Scott Hoffman the only son born to Carolyn Moses & Eric Hoffman. Gracing his family w/ his presence on April 30, 1984. Nate passed away unexpectedly w/ his family at his side on December 19, 2020. He was the peacekeeper among the family. Beloved brother to Erica, Chelsea, Jackie & brother Kavik. His most prized accomplishments were his children, Blare Oran & Macey Reagan. He was most proud to be a dad.

Nate’s life in a nutshell was one of adventure. He loved to surround himself w/ family & friends. He lived life at his own pace & lived it to the fullest each & every day. Not a day went by w/ out a phone call, text message, or a visit unannounced. Nate was also known for his rowdy & silly nicknames that he had for everyone who came into his life. You know who you are. “I love you man,” or “I love you bro/sis,” were always his last go to statements w/ a grin on his face.

Working hard & playing hard were his motto in life. He grew up watching his dad, uncles, cousins & family friends run heavy equipment. At a young age he knew what he wanted to do in life. At the age of sixteen years old he started his career working w/ heavy equipment down at the dock. He followed his dreams & achieved his CDL. Following in his father & grandfather footsteps.

Nate loved to enjoy the great outdoors. He had many, many adventures running up & down the Kuskokwim River w/ family and friends. He also enjoyed moose hunting trips on the Yukon. Summers were often spent camping in Napaimute at our family homestead. Burn barrels, late nights jamming to the jukebox, and storytelling filled the evenings. Occasionally there would be a sandbar that got in the way going upriver but thankfully, Nate had a great sense of humor & would turn those moments into an amazing adventure.

In elementary & high school Nate loved to participate in wrestling & basketball. If you knew Nate you knew how hard he wrestled, or how hard he passed the basketball. He gave it his all & left it all out on the mat or the basketball court. He was a great teammate, but also an amazing athlete. #44 for life!

He saw the light & humor in even the darkest times. Growing up w/ three sisters he was still the baby. He was always cared for & could almost get away with anything knowing one of his sisters would come to his rescue. His laughter was contagious. His love was contagious. He was loved by so many. He enjoyed life to the fullest & his passing will leave a large void in the hearts of the family members & friends whose lives he touched.

The Hoffman family would like to thank everyone for their phone calls, text messages, shared stories & continued prayers. A huge Quyana to our aunt/sister Beverly Hoffman & family, uncle/brother Bobby & auntie/sister-in-law Dit Hoffman, aunt/sister Geri Sumpter & family, brothers/uncle Steve, Jeff, Mike & sister-in-law Jill Hoffman, Meghan Crow & family, Jamie Herring & family, Baldwin Family, Kaiser family, Alexandra Yaya (2nd mom), William & Bruce Werba, Herron Family, Giffa Kinegak (raffle) & Nikki Corbett (help w/ obituary). Lastly, thank you to Marcia Coffee at YKHC for all her support.

Nate is proceeded in death by his mother Gwendolyn Mary (Flores) Hoffman, Grandparents Emma & Jesse Moses & Grandparents Dorothy & Jimmy Hoffman.

Our beloved son, brother, father, uncle, nephew, iluq to all, friend to many! Per his wishes he will be buried next to his mother Gwendolyn, grandparents Dorothy & Jimmy Hoffman, in Napaimute. We will be having a memorial when the time allows. We will announce the time/place when we are able to safely do so. Nates passing leaves an enormous void to fill. May his memory live on w/ us all. May his soul dwell w/ the blessed, his memories eternal, fly high brother free, fly high.
