Four graduating students from Mount Edgecumbe High School in Sitka, Alaska participated in a signing ceremony with North West Indian College of Bellingham, Washington. Mount Edgecumbe Lady Braves Cadence Dull of Toksook Bay, Katherine Jones of Ambler, Genneva Kamkoff of Anchorage, and Bethany Akaran of Kotlik will be playing basketball for NWIC.

“What an honor that so few get to experience, life changing!” wrote the Lady Braves basketball coach Candis Cook. “We are all so proud of these girls and they have worked hard for this, even though they never thought they could ever play at the next level.”

The College Signing Day for Girls Basketball was a success, said Coach Cook. To close the ceremony the Yupik and Inupiaq dancers performed at the end. Joining in the dancing were the four students, the NWIC athletic director, Mt. Edgecumbe’s athletic director, academic principal, myself and superintendent.
