Moe was born August 23, 1924 in Bethel to Loric Samuelson and Agnes Charles. He resided in Fairbanks for most of his life but spoke to his many relatives in Bethel who he visited as often as he could, family was a huge part of his life.

Moe always smiled and welcomed all with open arms. His genuine love and sincerity was felt by family and friends. He was thoughtful and caring, he never went a day without thinking of others. Moe laughed with the children and often gave them nicknames.

Moe’s passion for boat racing was passed on to his children and grandchildren. His involvement and enthusiasm for the sport was one of his biggest joys and accomplishments. Through the years he owned many boats including “Jen-Jen” in which he named in memory of his late granddaughter. He owned many other boats that were successful. His daughter, Agnes and his granddaughter, Ashley followed in his footsteps.

Moe was known throughout the community for his presence. He attended many functions and shared his wisdom with all he approached. He was able to influence his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and students with his stories. He was a long time member of the Plumber and Pipefitters Union.

He was musically talented and had his own band “Slo-Mo and the Kayakers” which appeared on the Tonight Show. He played many instruments, he was known for his fiddle playing but he also played the piano, guitar and harmonica. He inspired his granddaughters to play the violin.
