More data, lower cost, no overage charges for GCI customers

GCI rolls out new No Worries plans for rural Alaska hub communities.
The majority of GCI customers in Bethel, Nome and Kotzebue will see the amount of data included in their internet plans more than double this week as GCI introduces its new No Worries internet plans in these three rural Alaska hub communities. No Worries plans will be less expensive than current plans for the majority of GCI customers and will end troublesome overage charges.
“We listened to the concerns and recommendations from the community and worked hard to develop a new product, the No Worries plans, to better serve our customers,” said Paul Landes, senior vice president of GCI Consumer Services. “In addition to eliminating overage charges, the No Worries plans will more than double data and decrease the monthly price for the majority of our customers in these communities.”
In addition to more data and lower costs, customers will no longer have to be vigilant about monitoring their data usage. With the No Worries plans, a customer who reaches their monthly data limit will have the option to continue their use at a reduced speed for the remainder of the month or purchase additional data for $10.
GCI was able to increase data usage for customers due to recent upgrades to GCI’s Terrestrial for Every Rural Region in Alaska network, known as TERRA, which provides high-speed broadband service to more than 70 communities in rural Alaska. Over the past eight years, GCI has invested more than $250 million in TERRA. As new technology becomes available, GCI will continue to upgrade the network to provide event greater speeds and data packages for customers.
The No Worries plans launched today (July 25th) in Bethel, Nome and Kotzebue and customers can expect their automatic upgrade to take place immediately. Customers with questions or concerns can call 1-800-800-4800 or visit a GCI store in their community to ensure they are signed up for the plan that best fits their needs.
