Mary N. Evon was born in Bethel, AK, to the late Henry and Annie Nansen on July 28, 1929. She died peacefully at home with her children by her side on October 4, 2022.

She met and married the love of her life Carlie Evon and together they raised 14 children. After his passing in 1970, she became the sole provider for her children. She was the strength of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is the most amazing mom and grandmother anyone can ever have. She was loving, caring, and we all looked up to her for everything. She taught all of us to love one another.

Mary had numerous jobs throughout her life time from working at the police station, hospital. She also worked for the school district for 29 years because she loved children. The kids at school would call her the ticket lady when she worked in the kitchen, she was the home school coordinator. She then retired to spend time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She had five generations. Mary had 43 grandchildren, 99 great grandchildren, and 14 great great grandchildren. She had once told a pastor if all of her children and great grandchildren would get together they would overflow the church.

She enjoyed teaching and reading the Bible to her children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed cutting fish, subsistence, gathering salmon berries, blueberries and blackberries. She loved baking bread every morning and cooking.

She was a very religious woman who practiced what she preached.

Mary leaves her surviving children, Margaret Peters, Paul Evon, James Evon, Carol Evon, Marilyn Wassilie, Edward Evon, and Wilma Evon.
