It was reported to AST that Calson Aparezuk, age 34 of Kotlik, entered the Kotlik school by an unknown method and was armed with a rifle on February 17, 2022, at 0007 hours. Two adult persons were inside the school at the time but convinced Aparezuk to let them leave. It was later discovered that Aparezuk broke a window to enter the school. South Central Special Emergency Reaction Team (SERT) was activated and responded to Kotlik. At 1645 hours, Aparezuk was arrested inside the school without incident and was transported to Anchorage and remanded to Anchorage Correctional Center.
