The Alaska State Troopers were notified on June 10, 2022, at 2:10 am, that 26-year-old Atmautluak resident Emmitt Paul provided alcohol to a toddler who was then brought to the village clinic. Paul then proceeded to assault two family members before retrieving a firearm and firing it multiple times in the village. Alaska State Troopers and Alaska Wildlife Troopers responded from Bethel and arrested Paul on charges of Assault III, Assault IV, and Misconduct Involving a Weapon. Paul was remanded to YKCC in Bethel.
